I think it is probably fair to say, I am currently a mum on a mission. I have a bee in my bonnet and I want it settled so the Let kids be kids house can return to some form of normality.
When my children were small keeping up with the house work was hard. I wanted to spend time with them, not doing cleaning all day long and that is how I believe it should be. There was still a certain amount that obviously had to be done, we didn’t live in a complete tip, but the extras didn’t always happen, consequently, things build up over the years. The house has been in need of a good clear out, declutter and spring clean.
Our kitchen extension has finally finished and it is amazing, I absolutely love it. The children come and sit on their new breakfast bar stools to chat to me while I cook dinner, it has become a really family friendly place. Hence, the rest of the house desperately feels like it needs sorting and updating.
We have also had new wooden flooring throughout the whole ground floor and it looks amazing. The house feels more spacious and open. However, because of the new flooring and new skirting, we have to redecorate (not a bad thing at all). This is the reason I am a mum on a mission.
I am totally fed up with living in a building site now. The builders have gone, yet the house is still a mess. I am currently going full pelt at redecorating so we can piece the house back together and make it family friendly again.
Last weekend I decorated the lounge, which is a very large room. I was painting from 8am Saturday until 8.30pm and the same again on Sunday. It is hard work, but I am very pleased with the result. I still need to do the doors and radiators, but otherwise it’s complete. Now to find a nice rug, curtains and cushions to soften the look a little, anyone recommend somewhere I can look??
I have also painted the little cloakroom in between times too…another big improvement.
Next is the dining room, followed by the hall, which I am not looking forward to at all, but I am definitely looking forward to the finished results. The Let kids be kids house is having a big make over.
Being a mum on a mission is getting results quite quickly, even if it is exhausting.
