Living the life. ~ SP
Since we moved into our gorgeous new home I’m starting to not recognise myself. I’m doing things like checking on my newly laid turf to make sure it’s all growing ok (and discussing the brown patches with the husband in great detail) I’m deciding to go to garden centres instead of bluewater, looking at the best tumble dryer to invest in, smiling every time I put the key in the door, and my favourite, growing a full herb garden! I never really got the obsession with using products you’d grown, but I tell you what, when a recipe calls for coriander or thyme, or a cocktail (I’ve not changed *that* much!) calls for mint, you can literally see me skip to the garden shouting “I have that!”
Any cool factor I may have had has gone right out my bifold doors!
The kids are getting into it as well, they have packs of seeds waiting for the right time to be planted, and they’ve even started trying to persuade me to get some chickens. Now, I’m not a bird fan so the fact that I’m even slightly considering this goes a long way. We don’t have a huge garden, but I’d imagine there’s enough room for a chicken coop (that’s what it’s called isn’t it?) and we get through a ridiculous amount of eggs each week, so having fresh ones would be soooo good! Although, someone else would have to collect them because I tell you now, I’d be going nowhere near them!
Eggshell Online (loving that name!) have everything anyone could ever need should they want to keep chickens as pets – I have to make sure not to show it to my two otherwise they’ll be getting well ahead of themselves!
How many chickens does it take to keep them happy? (insert punchline here) how often do they lay eggs? How do I make sure the eggs aren’t chicks (shudder) What do they eat? What’s the best type of chicken to get? How do you keep foxes away? How do chickens even make chicks?! Oh the list of questions are endless!
Maybe when I have my giant house in the country we’ll invest in some chickens & give them a huge coop thing *right* at the bottom of the garden where there is no chance one of them will escape and come flying at me…..!
Honestly, this house has made me far too happy. I can’t believe I’m even talking about chickens never mind anything else!
