How to make a room more stylish for a teenager ~ GP
There comes a time in every parent’s life when they need to start thinking about redecorating a growing child’s room into that of a teenage one.
This process is important as not only does it give your child’s room a fresh lease of life but it also signals one of the first steps into adulthood.
For many of the aspiring teenagers out there, it is important that things are just so; no matter what you end up doing there will probably be some form of change required for your teen when they see it.
Here are a few hints and tips however, as to what is currently cool on the teenage decorating market of the internet:
Start at the bottom
More often than not, the carpet of a child’s room by the time that they reach their early teens will be rather more than well worn; hours of playing with cars or dolls can certainly work damage to any carpet.
What you may want to consider, therefore, is something that is a little more robust; one great flooring material that has adorned the floor of many teens is hardwood flooring. Although hardwood may be considered particularly expensive, it is durable, easy to clean and will actually raise the value of your home.
Oak Flooring from Ambience is one particular store which provides beautiful hardwood flooring for all rooms of the house.
Think about expanding bed wise
As your child gets older, so will their body. You may therefore want to consider buying a double bed for your lanky teen. As we all know, teenagers enjoy sleeping, in fact it is what they do the majority of the time; so getting the right bed for them is important.
In fact, research has shown that the irregular times at which teenagers sleep is quite often due to hormonal activity and whilst they sleep, they actually release a hormone which is essential for their growth.
Getting them a bed in which they lounge in for hours on end is therefore very important.
Playthings are essential
Even though your child is getting a little bit too old for toys, gadgets are the main playthings of a teenager’s life and having them in the room will not only give them something cool to play with, but also comfort them as they grow out of their childhood.
But what are the teenage gadgets of today?
Besides the very popular consoles of today, including the Xbox 360 and Wii U, which has just been released, there are quite simply a plethora of cool stuff on the internet which will make your teen’s room the place to be.
Websites such as Think Geek and This is Why I’m Broke offer a huge range of cool gadgets, toys and even furniture.
For one example, the Harry Potter television wand is a great stocking filler and will sit pride of place somewhere around your offspring’s room after the New Year. Not only will it offer a great laugh or two with friends but given the chance, will also help bridge the step between tween and teen.
