Getting ready for Christmas….
We love Christmas in this house, proper, proper love it. December the 1st (wedding anniversary) and there are advent calendars galore. Should the day fall on a weekend there is also a possibility that the tree will also go up then. I need to work on this next year because I want a real tree, the 1st of December is FAR too early for a real tree!
I love getting the house ready, fairy lights here, there and everywhere, lights on the tree, wooden advent as well as chocolate, cards displayed with style, we’re even attempting some homemade mince pies this year (I’m going to go for the star on top rather than a whole pastry case as I’ll never get them neat enough!) Mulled wine, christmas music and films all day long, gorgeous scented candles, the kids have window decorations in their room as well, it all adds to the magic of Christmas! The kids love helping me, they have their own trees in their room. It’s a little bit because you can never have too many trees and a little bit because I like to decorate mine without any ‘help’ but that’s a secret….
Doing all the little things together as a family is what makes it so special, handmade baubles from school and nursery, little pastry decorations covered in glitter, they all make memories for years to come.
If you need some festive inspiration, or an idea for a family project, Bosch Power Tools have got a fantastic DIY tutorial to help you create decorations that can be brought out year after year. Easy to make and perfect for personalising them (why not try making one for each member of the family?) these Gingerbread Man decorations are the great for getting into the Christmas spirit. You can see the full tutorial and find out how to make your own here. You can also visit their Facebook page here for more home inspiration.
Altogether now, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas……”
