Keep Fit ~ GP
Being a parent is hard work, both mentally and physically. Looking after kids is hard enough, but you also have to look after yourself and squeezing in time for the gym can be challenging and disruptive. Don’t despair however; there are many ways of getting the exercise you need without having to kill yourself. There are also ways of doing low impact exercises with the kids so you can all have fun and stay healthy. In addition to exercise, healthy eating and sensible weight loss programs can also ensure that you stay in tip-top shape.
One of the easiest ways to exercise without straining yourself too much or taking too much time out of your day is by walking. Think about your day, and if there are any instances where you could walk that little bit further – by getting off the bus a few stops early or parking further away from your destination than usual – you may even save money on parking! To really burn the fat you will have to try a little harder than usual, however. Techniques include walking a little faster by picking up your pace and using your arms more vigorously than usual. Try a form of interval training by adding short bursts of speed or some steep hill walks to really get the heart rate going.
If walking isn’t for you then you try getting an exercise DVD for something like step aerobics. Although often laughed at nowadays, fitness DVDs offer a great way to do a structured, well-balanced routine without having to spend hours trawling the internet for the best exercises or pay through the nose for a personal trainer. Having the DVD also keeps you motivated as the presenter will be constantly encouraging you, and you will be watching others perform the exercises which will ensure you have good technique and get the most out of the time. With step aerobics you can get your heart rate right up without having to do the jumps of hi/lo aerobics. Ensure you use your arms to get the most out of the work you do.
Another low-impact exercise you can do and involve the kids in is swimming. If they are old enough, you can leave them to play in the shallow end of the pool while you do lengths safe in the knowledge that there are fully-trained life guards on hand, should they get into any trouble. Just by playing with the children and moving around in the water will help you to tone up. Swimming is an excellent activity that will work the whole body – and it’s fun too.
By following these tips and eating healthily you will be able to stay in shape without knocking yourself out. If you want to lose weight more quickly you should also try a fat binder, such as XLS Medical, to compliment your efforts.
