Ooooooh I’m so excited! To quote the Coke advert, “Holidays are coming” Tonight we’re off to the opening night of Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park, which for me, means the start of all the Christmas-ness! I know it’s only November and there will be some scrooges out there who don’t think we should mention the C word before the 2nd week of December, but it’s the end of November, I’ve got two young kids, the advent calendars will be out next week and I DON’T CARE!!! I love Christmas!
Winter Wonderland will be at Hyde Park from the 23rd November until the 6th January 2013 10am til 10pm everyday! (Except the 23rd when it opens at 5pm)
We went along last year, twice in fact, once with the kids and once just the two of us for a spot of Christmas shopping. This year as well as the fab observation wheel, Christmas market & Zippos circus, they have a new Magical Ice Kingdom with ice & snow sculptures, Ice Age 4 Ice rink, Zippos Cirque Berserk – a circus for the adults instead & a new Yuletide market as well as all the rides, food and drink stalls & restaurants, mulled wine, german beer & huge hotdogs!
If you go along when it’s dark it’s even more magical, it’s like being transported back to being a child & everything about Christmas was magical and sparkling, the lights, the music, the whole atmosphere is amazing & I bloody love it!
It does get packed (obviously) and if you go along at a weekend be prepared for a bit of a rugby scrum at some points, but it opens up a bit more in the centre, I couldn’t imagine taking a buggy along though so anyone with small bubbas might want to use a sling instead. The queues last year weren’t too bad considering how busy it was, the staff get everyone moving along at a decent pace and you don’t mind standing in line for a while when there is Christmas music blasting out from speakers everywhere!
If you love Christmas as much as we do (and you love the Christmas shopping as much as I do) then you have to go here, it’s free to get in with the attractions having various prices. Ice Age 4 costs £36 for a family ticket, the Ice Kingdom £24, Circus £28 & the Observation Wheel £24 (all prices peak times*)
Tickets available from here
*Off peak times are classed as 26th/27th/28th/29th November 2012 & 2nd & 3rd January 2013.
“oh I wish it could be Christmas everydaaaaaaaaay”
I’ll post some pics next week, as I am determined to get more photographs on this blog.
