GG went to a fab birthday party this week, the theme was Monster High, which are basically scary Bratz dolls, Draculaura, Frankiestein and so on…! As it was one of her best friends I tried really hard to get her a Frankiestein costume, but for some bizarre reason the only ones in the UK were up to age 8 (she didn’t fit in age 8 when she was 6) otherwise I had the option of spending the best part of £60.00 on an american costume, which I wasn’t even sure would arrive in time. I was debating how to explain this to her, when an email popped into my inbox offering me the chance to review a fancy dress costume! Seriously, how’s that for lucky?

I had a quick look at the site to make sure they did costumes in her size, as so many sites and shops seem to cater for small kids, or adults, no teens and certainly no teen size 10 year olds, but thankfully Simply Fancy Dress did. There was so much choice, but in the end we got it down to the Teen Dark Stripe Witch halloween costume, complete with witch hat.  It came in a couple of days and it is fab! Seriously, if I could wear it I would! The dress is strapless (which pleased GG massively) but comes with a little stripy shrug with velcro fastening at the back, and the skirt part of the dress has lots of layers to make it extra fancy. She tried it on and it looked fab! It was a struggle to get her to leave it alone until the party as she wanted to wear it there and then!

We added some black tights, her black boots and some fabulous make up by yours truly, straightened her hair to give the witch effect and the end result was her winning best dressed at the party! Brilliant!

The costume cost £14.95 and the hat was an extra £3.99 but they also do lots of other accessories, we could have added a broom if we wanted to, they also stock the make up, wigs and masks. There is free delivery on all items at the moment too. I know we’re a bit late for Halloween but there will be plenty of fancy dress New Years parties coming up, and next year I am determined to have a halloween party for adults after seeing some of the costumes on there. I may even have to have a ‘best dressed’ section myself!
